Over 150 participants took part in the first event of the I LOVE KARDZHALI initiative
Over 150 people took part in the first event of the I LOVE KARDZHALI initiative organized by Kardzhali Municipality and the Tourist Information Center – Kardzhali.
Students from five Kardzhali schools and members of the Sport-Intellectual Club “Ahridos” marked and cleaned five hiking trails and eco-paths in just one day.
The event kicked off at 8:30 a.m. on May 12, from the parking lot in front of Arena "Arda", as well as from the second meeting point – the yard of Petko Rachov Slaveykov Secondary School.
Deputy Mayor of Kardzhali Municipality Veselina Tihomirova personally welcomed the participants in the initiative. She thanked them for their active participation and their willingness to contribute to the development of tourism in the municipality.
Five “trail-marking” groups set out on five different routes:
– Route “Shiroko Pole village – Medieval Fortress Moniak”, led by Margarita Yaneva, head of the municipal TIC, and students from Hristo Botev Language High School, guided by Ms. Petya Ilievska.
- Route "Kardzhali - Womb Cave" with guides Margarita Ruseva and Vanya Beleva with students from Y.Yovkov School, led by Mr. Banchev;
– Route “Shiroko Pole village – Suspension Bridge to Lisitsite village – Medieval Fortress Chit Kaya”, led by Elena Topalova, with 19 volunteers from the Sport-Intellectual Club “Ahridos” and 17 students from Vasil Levski Vocational School, guided by the school’s principal Ms. Nina Terekieva.
– Eco-trail “Champion”, led by Georgi Hristov and Aylia Yusufova, with students from Petko Rachov Slaveykov Secondary School, guided by Ms. Neshka Shopova and the school’s principal Mr. Milko Bagdasarov.
– Route “Kardzhali – The Stone Wedding”, with students from the Tourism Vocational School, led by Georgi Garabedyan, with guides Gergana Angelova and Valentina Staikova.
Kardzhali Municipality provided transportation for the participants, as well as paints, brushes, stencils, a chainsaw, and everything else necessary for the campaign.
For the eco-activists, there was also a surprise – everyone received T-shirts with the logos of the municipality and the initiative I LOVE KARDZHALI.
The ambition of the Tourist Information Center and Kardzhali Municipality is to mark all hiking trails and eco-paths on the territory of the municipality, as well as to outline new ones.
Plans also include the construction of new gazebos along the routes.
