White Yarrow - part of the natural magic of Kardzhali
if you walk around the surroundings of kardzhali, almost everywhere you’ll come across the humble but incredibly useful yarrow (Achillea millefolium). this herb is not only typical for the region but also a real treasure in folk medicine. its clusters of small white flowers add charm to the meadows, and its healing properties have been known since antiquity – all the way back to roman healers and chinese divinations.

White yarrow is recognized both as a “man’s herb” for its ability to stop bleeding and heal wounds, and as a “woman’s herb” because it relieves menstrual pain and supports women’s health. it is rich in essential oils, vitamins, and minerals like magnesium, manganese, and zinc, which make it ideal for teas, decoctions, and cosmetic products. a cup of yarrow tea, picked at the foot of the rhodope mountains, brings not only healing qualities but also a sense of connection with nature.
White yarrow is also an indispensable helper in the garden – a decoction made from it can be used against pests like aphids and caterpillars. the healing power of the plant is the subject of many legends, and locals believe that in its aroma and bitterness lies the spirit of the region. whether you use it for medicinal tea, an herb garden, or simply enjoy its beauty, yarrow is a true natural treasure that makes kardzhali even more special.
