After the restoration of the statue, it was placed in its place, at the northern entrance of the town of Kardzhali, in June, 2005. The figure of Orpheus itself was sculpted in the 1970s by the renowned Bulgarian sculptor Krum Damyanov. Around the monument there is a specially built plaza, with pine trees planted and stairs for easier access to it. At night the statue is illuminated and the view is even more impressive. And for almost ten years now, the figure of Orpheus in Kardzhali has been tirelessly welcoming and sending off visitors to the city.
