Gorubso Park

One of the beautiful, quiet, and pleasant places for a walk in Kardzhali is Gorubso Park.

Built in the 1950s, it spans an area of 94 decares.

green zone between the Gorubso factory and residential areas. However, with the town’s expansion,

the park now lies in the central part of Kardzhali, Kardzhali, close to the House of Culture,

In the center of the park, there is a small pond with beautiful, delicate water lilies,

a bridge crossing over it, and a charming rock garden.

The park boasts diverse vegetation, including century-old trees and various

coniferous species, with broad, long, beautifully paved and

illuminated paths perfect for strolling. The only Albizia tree in Kardzhali grows here,

here, with its distinctive purple-white fluffy blossoms.

On the eastern side of Gorubso Park lies the Rosarium, located in Kardzhali near

the former Youth Center. Established in the late 1950s, it was renovated

in 2003 through a civic initiative and volunteer work, which reinforced the

colonnade of 60 stone columns and refreshed the rose bushes surrounding them. The roses

enclose a space with a Kiss Monument at its center, inscribed with

a passage from Robert Burns’ poem Comin' Thro' the Rye:

“If a body meet a body comin' thro' the rye,

If a body kiss a body, need a body cry? Every laddie has his lassie…’’

The idea for the monument belongs to the journalist Vildan Bayramova, while the sculpture itself

was crafted by the renowned artist Emil Penchev. It was opened on October 10, 2003, by the prominent public figure

creating an atmosphere of mystery and romance among the roses

and evoking a sense of peace, warmth, quiet happiness, and love.
