The mosque in the village of Madrets

Muslim temples are traditionally distinguished by their rich decoration, but the mosque in the village of Madrets stands out with its exquisite wood carvings and unusual interior decoration. As soon as you cross the threshold, you can feel that it has its own character and history.

Local legend has it that the mosque was built by a wealthy widow who wanted her name to be remembered for generations to come. Her tomb is located next to the building itself and is part of the history of the place.
The strongest impression comes from the interior. A watermelon split into four pieces is painted on the ceiling. The motif is rare and attracts attention with its symbolism. It gives the interior a distinctive look.
Вътрешното пространство е организирано на две нива – горното е предназначено за жените, а долното за мъжете. Цветовете и дърворезбата са съчетани с усет, а украсата носи характерния почерк на местните майстори.
