The mosque in the village of Madrets

Local legend has it that the mosque was built by a wealthy widow who wanted her name to be remembered for generations to come. Her tomb is located next to the building itself and is part of the history of the place.
The strongest impression comes from the interior. A watermelon split into four pieces is painted on the ceiling. The motif is rare and attracts attention with its symbolism. It gives the interior a distinctive look.
The interior space is organized on two levels – the upper one is intended for women, and the lower one for men. The colors and wood carvings are tastefully combined, and the decoration bears the characteristic style of local craftsmen.
