The Krivus Fortress, built in the 10th century AD in the Eastern Rhodope Mountains, is situated on a steep ridge overlooking a meander of the Arda River. In the past, it controlled an important route into the mountain's interior, making it a key defensive point. Today, parts of the fortress walls remain, reaching heights of 5-6 meters and a thickness of about 1.2 meters. They are constructed of rough stone bonded with white mortar. The fortress’s location in a picturesque area of the Rhodope Mountains, rich in archaeological sites and villages with well-preserved architecture, makes it an interesting destination for visits and hikes.

To reach the medieval Krivus Fortress from the village of Bashevo, you need to follow a marked trail that starts at the northwest end of the village. This trail leads you through shrubs and forest, and along the way, you can see the remnants of the fortress walls. The return journey follows the same route.
